Now is the perfect time to meet and adopt your new best friend
Newly back from quarantine and feeling their best, dozens of dogs have returned to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center (PRC) ready to meet their new forever families. The pups were temporarily relocated to another County-owned facility following a canine flu outbreak at the end of June. After being exposed to and recovering from canine influenza, these good boys and girls have taken blood tests to confirm their immunity and cannot be reinfected. This means you can adopt these pooches without fear of the illness being spread to any other animals in your household.
All the previously quarantined dogs were recently invited to a pool party/spa day where they were pampered with baths and nail trims, making them extra lovable.
Bonus: Adoption fees are currently being waived for both dogs and cats. Speaking of cats…it's kitten season, and PRC is chock full of fuzzy cuties. Whether you're looking for an active feline or a sleepy kitty, PRC is the place to adopt the purrfect pet.
Pup Spotlight: Brownie
One of the dogs who recently returned to PRC from quarantine is Brownie. This 16-month-old puppy loves to play and has warmed the hearts of staff and visitors alike. Brownie is working hard on his social skills, doggy manners, and learning simple commands. This smartie has also picked up housetraining from brief outings. Brownie's a flexible fellow with a gentle/dainty play style who is ready to swim, play fetch, go for walks, or any other activity that will help burn off his puppy energy and give him a chance to be with an interested foster or adopter!
Be a foster hero
Not quite ready to adopt? PRC welcomes short-term foster families! Your commitment could be as little as taking a dog out for a stroll and a pup cup (a small cup of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream) or as long-term as you can manage. The PRC Foster Squad has many great opportunities to get involved - from bottle-fed kittens to sleepovers and everything in between - you can make a difference in an animal's life, with any time commitment you can offer.
