Hurricane Milton Update No. 25

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2024) - The precautionary boil water notice issued by Hillsborough County on Oct. 10 in the Hillsborough County Water Resources Department's South Central drinking water system impacting some customers in the Seffner / North Brandon area has been lifted.

The notice was lifted today after all required testing showed the water meets quality standards. An estimated 4,000 connections were impacted by the precautionary boil water notice.

Hillsborough County's Water Resources department had issued the precautionary boil water notice due to the distribution system pressure falling below the required regulatory level. Water pressure fell due to watermain breaks from Hurricane Milton.

The Florida Department of Health recommends allowing the water to run for five minutes at each tap to flush the lines with fresh water. Remember to include misters, drinking fountains, ice makers (discard the first bin full), etc., when flushing the lines.
