Board awards ceremony also honors Sunshine Line and Community & Infrastructure Planning department staff for achievements
During the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Jan. 22 Quarterly Awards Ceremony, the Board recognized Pet Resources Director Scott Trebatoski for earning the Florida Animal Protection and Advocacy Association's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pet Resources is the County's only open-admission pet shelter, which means it accepts domestic animals regardless of breed, size or medical condition. Under Trebatoski's years of leadership, the shelter underwent many positive changes, including the "Be the Way Home" initiative, with a goal of 90% shelter adoption, return to owner, and rescue. Pet Resources has achieved its 90% goal for dogs the past six years, and over the past four years, PRC has consistently saved more than 93% of dogs and cats. Other recognitions presented during the awards ceremony included:
- American Planning Association's Florida Award of Excellence in the Neighborhood Planning Category to the Community & Infrastructure Planning Department
- Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged's 2024 Urban Community Transportation Coordinator of the Year to Sunshine Line
- Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged's 2024 Sheila Winitzer Shining Star Award to Felicia Piechowiak of Sunshine Line
