Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 16, 2025) - It's time for a pepper party.

Residents have opportunities in three different Hillsborough communities to learn more about pepper gardening this month with Homegrown Hillsborough's Plant Your Plate program.

Homegrown Hillsborough is a community development initiative led by Hillsborough County Extension Service that seeks to create a network of community organizations with a mission to support a strong food system.

Residents ready to get serious about pepper gardening can learn from the pros at three different Hillsborough County locations. Extension agents will teach classes geared to help budding gardeners master the pepper. Residents can sign up for the free classes here.

At each location, there will be five weekly hands-on demonstrations with freebies for the earliest arrivals and deep subject matter knowledge from the teachers.
