One-day event will feature experts from several local agencies
Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 15, 2026) - Elder abuse can manifest in different forms. Hillsborough County Aging Services wants to educate and empower seniors and their caregivers to recognize the signs in order to prevent it.
Aging Services will host an Elder Abuse Prevention Conference from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 17, at the Brandon Senior Center, 612 N. Parsons Ave., Brandon, FL 33510. The event is open to the public. Contact the Brandon Senior Center at (813) 635-8066 or (813) 523-0341 to learn more.
Presentations will focus on elder abuse and the different forms it takes. The program will offer resources for caregivers, families, and older adults. Local experts also will present safety and fraud-prevention guidance.
The following presentations are scheduled:
- Types of Abuse and Warning Signs
- Common Scams Targeting Older Adults
- Crisis Intervention and Emotional Support
- The Social Worker's Role in Elder Protection
- Veterans Elder Abuse
- A Question-and-Answer Session will follow the presentations
