Widening the segment of Bell Shoals Road between Bloomingdale Ave and Boyette Rd

Project description

The project consists of widening the segment of Bell Shoals Road between Bloomingdale Avenue and Boyette Road from a two-lane, undivided rural road, to a four-lane, divided urban facility. The 3.1 mile corridor will have two vehicle lanes, a bike lane, and a sidewalk in both directions. A new traffic signal will be added at Starwood Avenue and the existing traffic signals at Glenhaven Drive, Rosemead Lane, and Bloomingdale Avenue will be upgraded. The project will also widen the existing bridge over the Alafia River, improve stormwater drainage, and enhance pedestrian safety features, including upgrades to comply with current ADA regulations.

The new design will increase the level of service along Bell Shoals Road, accommodating higher traffic volumes while maximizing safety along the corridor.
