New Tampa Performing Arts Center volunteers say involvement improves their mental health

Volunteering is a great way to get involved with your community, meet new people, and give back. It can also play a positive role in your mental health, especially among seniors. According to the Mayo Clinic, volunteering among people who are 65 and older leads to lower rates of depression and anxiety.

Plus, volunteering combats loneliness and helps people foster community and build friendships. Research from the University of Michigan found that feelings of loneliness lessen among older adults when they spend time volunteering.

Volunteers at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center (NTPAC) have experienced these benefits firsthand.
