Pay online, in-person, by phone, or by mail
We are aware of an issue affecting some customers who pay their water bill through their financial institution’s online bill payment service.
A small number of payments initiated through customers' financial institutions have been delayed or rejected before reaching Hillsborough County Water Resources, specifically after May 8, 2026. In some cases, customers made their payment on time, but the transaction was not successfully processed by their financial institution.
What You Should Do
If you use your financial institution's automatic online bill pay service:
- Log in to your financial institution’s account and verify that Hillsborough County Water Resources is listed as an active payee.
- Confirm that your water utility account number is entered correctly.
- Review any recurring or automatic payment settings to ensure they are still active and accurate.
- Contact your financial institution and ask them to verify that payments to Hillsborough County Water Resources are being processed successfully and that no updates or reauthorization are required.
- Monitor your account to confirm that future payments are sent and cleared as expected.
If you recently submitted a payment:
- Check your financial institution’s account to verify whether the payment was processed.
- If the payment was rejected, canceled, or returned, please contact your financial institution to correct and/or update your payment.
- If your payment was submitted on time, but has not been credited to your water account, please contact Water Resources Customer Service as soon as possible at (813) 307-1000.
We are actively working with our payment partners to resolve this issue and minimize any disruption to our customers. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Things to consider

- All payments that post after the due date on the bill may require additional collection processes and result in a deposit increase review
- Do not pay water restriction violations online or by phone
- To pay water restriction violations, use the envelope provided with the citation, or pay in person at our Brandon Customer Service Center
